Interstate 80 Phase I Study Underway; Public Meeting
Scheduled
Schaumburg, IL - The Illinois Department of Transportation
(IDOT) is initiating the Interstate 80 Preliminary Engineering
and Environmental (Phase I) Study. The study will take a
comprehensive look at the current and future transportation
needs of the corridor and includes an extensive public
involvement process. The I-80 study area extends approximately
16 miles from Ridge Road on the west to U.S. Route 30 on the
east, is located within Kendall, Grundy, and Will Counties, and
passes through the communities of Minooka, Channahon, Shorewood,
Rockdale, Joliet, and New Lenox.
The public meeting, conducted in an open house format, will
be held at the following time and location:
Wednesday, August 18, 2010 4:00pm – 7:00pm
Location: Victorian Ballroom at the Jacob Henry Mansion
Estate 15 S. Richards Street Joliet, IL 60433
The purpose of the meeting is to seek public input on the
transportation issues and needs of the project. Interested
persons may visit anytime between 4:00pm and 7:00pm IDOT
will provide information regarding study schedule, federal
review process and public involvement opportunities. Attendees
will have the opportunity to watch a PowerPoint presentation,
review exhibits, provide comments, and meet with IDOT and study
team representatives on a one-on-one basis.
“We are looking forward to beginning the process to identify
and address the needs of this important regional section of a
significant link in the nation’s interstate system”, said IDOT
Regional Engineer Diane O’Keefe.

The Village Christian Church “The Church has Left the
Building”
The Village Christian Church in Minooka is holding a “The
Church Has Left the Building” day of community service on Sunday
morning, June 13, 2010.
Church members are looking for family-friendly community
service projects in the Minooka, Channahon, Morris, and Joliet
area to allow them to serve God and the community. Other area
volunteers are encouraged to help our members with the projects,
as well.
Examples of projects scheduled so far include oil changes for
single parents, a free car wash, making greeting cards for
hospice patients, visiting nursing homes, a free kids’ carnival,
a blood drive, doing yard work for the elderly, cleaning up
local parks, and many more.

Excluding June 13, The Village Christian Church meets Sunday
mornings at Minooka Junior High School, 333 E. McEvilly Road,
Minooka, for services at 9:00 and 10:30. A nursery, children’s
programs, and worship services are available.
