Minooka Emergency Management Agency shall provide support services to the Village of Minooka Police & Public Works and Minooka Fire District during extended operations. These services will allow Police and Fire to address priority tasks and the agency to address lower priority tasks that are instrumental to the community. The agency will also complete pre-emergency planning for events that can potentially disrupt community operations for an extended period of time. These services will be provided in a reliable, effective, and responsible manner to protect life and property.
The outdoor warning sirens are owned and maintained by Exelon Corporation as part of its emergency preparedness obligations related to the nuclear generation stations. Testing is on the first Tuesday of every month at 10:00 AM. While Exelon is not required to do so, they have allowed for the use of their system by area counties for other emergency situations, such as weather. This is a tremendous cost savings for counties.
REMEMBER, OUTDOOR WARNING SIRENS ARE JUST THAT, OUTDOOR WARNING.
When you hear sirens sound in your community, tune to your local Emergency Alert System (EAS) station for further information.
