Yard Waste Information
Yard Waste Season is April 1 – November 30
By Illinois state law, yard waste cannot be disposed of with regular garbage.
——– Helpful Yard Waste Reminders ——–
- Grass clippings, leaves, branches, etc. are considered yard waste (no dirt or rock).
- By Illinois State Law, yard waste must NOT be mixed with your garbage.
Bags, Cans and Branches
- Yard waste can be placed in brown paper yard waste bags. Bags can be found at most local grocery and hardware stores. Unlimited brown bags are accepted.
- Containers must be clearly marked Yard Waste and cannot be over 32 gallons or weigh more than 50 lbs.
- Branches should be cut into 3-4 foot lengths and be no wider than 6 inches in diameter. Branches can be placed in the yard waste bag or put in reasonable-sized bundles tied with twine or string.
